Sonia Sulaiman is an artist and writer currently working on two books featuring Palestinian folktales, disability, and diaspora poetry for which she is a recipient of an Ontario Arts Council Recommender Grant for Writers. Her work has appeared in Uppercuts, and Whiskey Sour City by Black Moss Press, and in Stone, Root, and Bone by Hagstone Publishing.
Her visual art includes urban sketching, portraiture, and illustrations of Palestinian and Finnish folklore. Her work has appeared in WindsoriteDotCa, at the Arts Council Windsor and Region’s ‘Windsor HEAT’ summer showcase, the Art Gallery of Windsor, the Back Room Gallery, and at Art in the Park. Her paintings are on permanent display in Detroit, as part of an installation for the city’s tri-centennial.
In her spare time, Sonia volunteers as a submissions editor for Hugo Award winning Uncanny Magazine.
