A mixed media abstract artist, I use acrylic paint, oil pastels and pencil in my work. For each piece, I convey abstract concepts like pain, hope, and grace.
More about me: At 36, I quit a full-time job that I loved, doing social media for an art museum. Having my daughter Louise during the pandemic had made me reevaluate how I wanted to spend my time.
I started reading The Artist’s Way with the intention of writing more. Instead, 12 weeks of journaling “morning pages” inspired me to paint, something I hadn’t really done in a decade or more.
I had left a full-time job before in 2018 with hopes of using more of my creativity for myself. But I tried too quickly to capitalize on my artwork and ended up frustrated and defeated. For 3 years I was creatively blocked, scared to write, draw or create.
This time I’m trying things differently. I’m doing what I enjoy, focusing on the process and not the results. I’m determined to put the art first and the marketing second.
