Courtney Nixon born in Arlington Texas, began her art career at Tarrant County Community College from 2009 to 2013. She later transferred to University of North Texas in 2014 and graduated with a BFA in drawing and painting in 2017. Courtney continues to create art in Princeton , Texas. Primarily working in collages and paintings, Courtney's work is influenced by literature , nature, and memories from both her childhood and adulthood experiences. Her work often employs the theme of humor and is characterized by use of bright color palettes, and a playful use of patterns. Not being confined as a traditionalist, Courtney brings mixed media to her paintings, along with abstract features that make the audience glance at the work for long periods of time to figure out what the work is, without necessarily having a clear narrative. Her collages on the other hand, play with the tradition of narrative. Bordering between the two different worlds has led her work to being called paradoxical.
